large VIB without much change

Post by lbiw »

I noticed recently that the VIB files are getting quite large, almost to the size of the VBK files. I have only been running Veeam Agent for Windows for about a month, and I wonder if there is something wrong?

This is a 2012-r2 Server mainly used for DFS, and never that much change on a day to day basis.

Does anyone have an idea what might be happening here?

Most likely a disk layout change occurred which caused changed block tracking to reset for all volumes on the disk. You would need to check the log files to know for sure.

Agree, it looks like the volume was backed up from scratch. Any specific activities with that volume during these dates?

There was no disk errors reported, and the raid still appears in tact. This is just one of 5 VMs on the host, and the other 2002-r2 has no similar issues with its backup. August 12th was last Saturday, and I was not onsite, and how outages were reported.

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it and any further offerings.

Good guess. Defarg might cause such issue. However, if it’s periodic (like in windows 10) you won’t see much difference on the incremental job run.

You can contact our support team and check the job log. It should have some information for sure.
