License managed by administrator

Post by peeky1323 »

Hi,

I had a trial of the Agent workstation, and it's expired and I want to just use the free version. When I go "about" I see "License and edition are managed by adminisrator". This is a stand alone install not connected to a VBR Server. My user profile is not an admin but I run the appp as admin. I have also logged into the laptop as admin and it;s the same. I uninstalled removing the program files and program data directories. Any ideas? Is there a reg key I can trash to reset it?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Are you using VAW in conjunction with Veeam B&R? Was trial license installed in Veeam B&R? Thanks.

it may have been originally for testing but the B&R server is gone. It was a while ago and I can't remember if it was or not. Either way the B&R is no longer around.

I found some registry keys left over after uninstall but I cannot remove them. The error I get is:

ManagedMode cannot be opened, an error is preventing this key from being opened.

Matt,

Go to Agent backup job properties and change target to the local repository or shared folder. That should break the link between VBR server (even if it’s no longer active) and agent.

it's set to backup to local USB disk and always has. The license screen says I have the Workstation version which is what I trialled.

Matt,

If you go to 'About' page is it possible to click the link manage license and edition or this link is greyed out? Thanks.

In the About screen I have:

Version:
Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 2.0.0.700 - Workstation Edition
License and edition are managed by Administrator (this line is greyed out)

Matt,

Last guess - have you tried VAC (Veeam Availability Console Beta) together with this agent?

Hi,

I think I did install the VAC agent on my laptop to troubleshoot the VAC server install some time ago. The agent is no longer on it.

Thanks,

Matt

Matt,

Thanks. Honestly, I am out of ideas. Please check with our support team (it should be possible to open a case via Control Panel > Support > Technical Support). Share the case ID please.

Well, looks like I'm almost 4 years too late, but I just had the same problem and found a solution which seemed to work for me...

The registry key 'Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\0B7082902B72E15448EE182051D314AC' has a value called 'Assignment' and it was set to '1'.

I changed it to '0', restarted the agent, and the agent no longer reports that it's managed by my server and administrator. The 'About' page now looks normal as expected after a fresh install - it says 'Free Edition' and has the link to update the license.

Leaving this here in case it's helpful to someone else!
