Manually deleting files

Post by marius roma »

I have an external HD used for the backup of a Windows 10 PC.
As you can see from the listing there are 2 .vbk files, one created on 12/Jul/2018 , the other one created on 07/Nov/2018, and lots of .vib files.
I need to reclaim free space but I would like to keep at least part of the restore points.
Can I manually delete all the .vib files older than 12/Jul/2018 and keep only the .vbk file in order to keep the restore points since 12/jul/2018?
Can I manually delete all the .vib and .vbk files older than 19/Jul/2018 in order to keep the restore points since 19/jul/2018?
Is there any alternate solution to keep at least part of the restore points?
Regards
marius

Hi Mario.

Before we go, please check if you have periodic full option enabled in the job properties? Thanks!

Mario,

After looking at the timestamps in the names I am under impression that all restore points are still linked to a single VBK file, so I vote for either starting a new backup chain (and then deleting the entire backup chain) or setting the lower value to the retention (that should cause you backup chain to merge during the next job run).
