McAfee Drive Encryption break anyone elses VEB?

Post by Novox »

Since I upgraded McAfee Drive Encryption to 7.1.3.604, VEB refuses to backup my whole hard drive:

Code: Select all

10/13/2016 4:19:01 PM :: Error: The device is not ready. Failed to read data from the file [\\?\Volume{775ee28e-e2f8-4f59-90a7-2c95f4c241b5}]. Failed to upload disk. Agent failed to process method {DataTransfer.SyncDisk}. Exception from server: The device is not ready. Failed to read data from the file [\\?\Volume{775ee28e-e2f8-4f59-90a7-2c95f4c241b5}]. Unable to retrieve next block transmission command. Number of already processed blocks: [0]. Failed to download disk.
(I think \\?\Volume{775ee28e-e2f8-4f59-90a7-2c95f4c241b5} is a special McAfee Drive Encryption volume)

Any thoughts?

I can still do a volume level backup, but then I won't ever be able to perform a bare-metal recovery.

Hi Novox,

I have no experience with McAfee Drive Encryption but did it work before you upgraded? (I assume yes)
Did you need to make new configuration changes? Like new password / key / something for the encryption?

Ideally, to learn more from it, it would be good if you could try a backup again, let if fail, and then create a support case through the VEB UI. Post the case ID here and the follow-up also.

It would be appreciated
Thanks
Mike

Novox,

Can you check if this encrypted partition was unlocked during the backup process?
