Merging all backups together of a dead laptop

Post by HighMans »

Hello! How do I go about merging all my backups (including incrementals) of a machine that's currently dead. I'd like to keep the backup, but would like to just have one file.

Hi Highmans,

First: Welcome to the forums

To my knowledge, this is not possible. Are the backups stored in a Veeam Backup & Replication repository?

No, it isn't. They're just stored on a CIFS share.

In that case I'm afraid the answer remains no. The oldest backup will be a full backup and all the others are incremental. You will need this chain to be able to do recoveries. (PS: You are using the free edition? I should have asked that from the beginning also :-()

I am running the free version, but I do have the NFR version for Veeam Backup & Replication Repository and can upgrade my Veeam Agent with a NFR license. (I'm a student.)

It still won't fix your initial requirement. The reason I asked is that it otherwise might have been possible that you have multiple full backups with incremental in between. But in this case, you will have one full and incremental behind, the amount will depend on the days that you decided to keep your backups.
