Missing VBM File

Hi,
unfortually I have a missin VBM File, but I have a VBK and a VIB File ( created by VAW ). I moved Backups across some Disks. Maybe I have missed the VBM File.
I cant find a way to create ist again ( without V&R installed ).
Is there a solution to do this ?

Hi Volker

Our customer support may recreate the metadata file (VBM) from the backup files.
Without the VBM file, you won't be able to restore backups with the agent. Veeam Backup & Replication is the only workaround to be able to restore your data without opening a case.

as I remember, I just must install the Console Componet, not the hole B&R, right ?

Hi Volker

The console is only "the console". You need the entire backup server installation.

ok, how can I download B&R without a Company Maildomailaddress, I just have a private Address ?

Dear Fabian,
I can restore from VBK with B&R, but I'm not able to create a new Metadatafile VBM with B&R ?

VBR allows you to restore the data without the metadata file.
But recreating the metafile requires case with our customer support.

I need to recreate the VBM file from my existing VBKs and VIBs, too. I opened a support ticket last week but did not receive an answer yet.

Can anybody from Veeam look into this: Case #06376477

I need to continue my incremental chain and map the exsting backup job which I currently can't due to the missing VBM file.

I have tried the instructions given from

and
https://www.reddit.com/r/Veeam/comments ... bk_backup/

but this was unsuccessful. The (internal) PowerShell commands might have changed in VBR version 12.

Your case didn't get a response yet because you have opened it for the community edition.

Unfortunately, we cannot help you with this request over a forum post. For now I suggest to wait if support can take over the case or not.
Maybe consider to just start a new backup chain (Active Full with new metadata). You can still import your old backups to a VBR server to restore from the old backups.

Hello Fabian,

thanks for answering. I would really appreciate a quick solution on how to get the Powershell command working to create a new VBM file. I would like to keep my backup history and - most important - the ReFS forever forward incremental chain intact. The size of the backup is really a concern so I would refrain from taking another active full whenever possible.

Maybe you can contact a colleague from support to speed things up a bit. I know I am not a commercial user. At the moment I still use a NFR license if this can be of any help in getting the problem solved.
