Multiple external USB targets for same backup

Post by fet »

Hi,

I used to connect 2 different usb targets to the same PC. This seems to work fine, but I'm not sure if I would have probems with restoreing backups. I Veeam Endpoint Backup able to index just the content of the connected target?

Did you use rotated drives option or manually were switching the drives?

Yes. Open restore wizard (File level recovery or Volume level recovery and browse for backup files). Once selected you should see all the restore points.

If necesary, if I delete old backup files for getting free space, and configure less backups on the task, will it reindex content on restoreing?

Hi Fet,

Don't delete old backups manually (the oldest is the full, the newer ones are incremental so if you delete the oldest your chain is broken). But indeed, let's say you had 14 or so as the amount of days of backup and you decrease that number to 7 or so, the NEXT backup it will transform the chain. However, if you do that, it will need to succeed first in building the full until those 7 days so you will need to have the disk space to do that!
