NAS Storage
Hello, I have now successfully configured and created my backup.
Now I wanted to define instead of an external USB hard drive as a storage location a NAS storage that is connected to my Fritzbox 7590.
However, the VEEAM Agent does not find the location for the NAS storage (the storage is not displayed at all), even though it is created and connected to the network.
Where is the mistake here?
Thanks for the help.

Re: NAS Storage
Hello Spider67,
You need to set the account for file share access in the job properties, unless the anonymous access is configured. You can check the connection from the agent machine by opening the file share with the same account via Windows Explorer. Thanks!

Re: NAS Storage
Hello, i know what you mean, but unfortunately this doesn´t work.
If I click on the button "Browse" i cannot select the shared file because it is not listened there. Nevertheless it is defined as a nas and i am able to open it by windows explorer. Also i am able to save any data there from any device in the network. So why I cannot select the share folder by clicking on the button "Browse"?

Re: NAS Storage
Hello, my system is configured as follows:
A Fritzbox 7590 with version 7.29 is used as a router. A 500 GB HDD from Intensio is connected to it via USB, which was configured as a NAS via the Fritzbox.
Access is possible via Explorer in the home network and via Internet by the user control in the Fritzbox. This all works perfectly. I can store videos, pictures, movies on the NAS and play all media from any device on the network.
However, if I want to select the NAS as a storage space when configuring the backup in the Windows Agent, it will not be displayed on my desktop PC when I press the "Browse" button. With the laptop that is also integrated into the network, I get the error message "Network access not possible".
So here are my questions: Is this configuration even possible? Why can't I select the destination folder when configuring the backup of the NAS?
Thanks for the help.

Re: NAS Storage
Yes it is possible to backup to the SMB share. Have you tried to add the exact path to the file share in the wizard manually (and credentials if needed)? Thanks!

Re: NAS Storage
Hello, now I added the path and the account informations (as requested) manually and the result was the following mistake: "Failed to get disk free space" So I have to replace the NAS by one with more storage so the backup should work as intended.
I think that will solve my problem.

Re: NAS Storage
This message means, that veeam is unable to connect to the share to get the free space. It has nothing todo with too little space available.

Re: NAS Storage
@Spider67 You need to use the entire path down into your backup folder. The FB's "NAS" has a root folder without free space but lower folders do have free space.

Re: NAS Storage
Hello Nils,
i thought, I used the whole path to my backup folder i set up on windows explorer. But it still doesn´t work. My path looks like this for example: \\Desktop\Z$\FRITZ.NAS\Elements\Veeam Backup.
Is there any mistake in the path?
Thanks for help.

Re: NAS Storage
That doesn‘t look like a directly shared path.
That looks like you try to access the share over your own pc. CIFS doesn‘t work that way. Your pc is not the CIFS Server.
Please access the share directly. It doesn‘t work the other way.
Properly:
\\FRITZ.NAS\Elements

Re: NAS Storage
Thanks to all of you. The mistake was really the access over my own pc (by windows explorer). Now I added the network path manually based on the defined folder, than I set the access data, which were defined in my fritz box and finally evertything works!!
The storage was found with almost 1 TB free space, and I was able to create the backup job exactly as I wanted to.
Thanks again for your friendly help.
