Hi
Just set up a new client on Veeam Agent for Windows to NAS. Did its first full back up fine, but then has failed next attempt
with Retrieved less bytes from the storage [0] than required [270336].
The NAS has a .vbm and .vbk - which it think constitutes the full back up?
And then the .vib that the error is talking about. (Its actually 525MB so not 0)
Am I right in thinking if I just delete the .vib, I will just work from the full back up and start again?
Don't really want to do a full backup again as it took ages as the clients Network is terrible.

Re: New Backup for Client - delete vib?
Hi Simon
You should not delete the vib manually from an active chain. This will destroy the backup chain and you will have to create a new fullbackup.
vbk —> Fullbackup
vib —> Incremental backup
vbm —> metadata of the backup
You should open a support case if you see again an issue with the backup job the next time kit runs. Technical issues need a support case before opening a topic.

Re: New Backup for Client - delete vib?
Hi Mildur,
Thank you
If there is only one vib i.e the first incremental backup that seems to have been corrupted, if I delete that one, will Veeam correct its metadata and then start
a new first incremental?
Cheers
Simon

Re: New Backup for Client - delete vib?
Your welcome.
Veeam will not change metadata when your remove manually a vib file. I assume, that the next backup will be a full. I would‘t remove the vib file. There is no need to.
Deleting the vib file will not resolve your issue that you are facing. I don‘t know your infrastructure, but I would assume that it has something todo with the connection to the NAS Device. Unstable connection most likely.
Best way to find out is to open a support case and get the debug logs analyzed. We can not analyze this over the forum. The forums is run by product management and not technical support department.
