One Single Backup Job per Month!
Hi,
How can I schedule the Agent to do an active full backup once a month (without incrementals), on specific day and time instead of weekly...?! And delete the last backup after successful one!
TIA

Re: One Single Backup Job per Month!
As the scheduler is built today, there will always be at least 1 incremental backup.
You can however start a backup from a command prompt:
Then you could script the deletion of the previous restore point and have this run as a monthly batch script.
What is the use case for your scenario?
You can however start a backup from a command prompt:
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Veeam\Endpoint Backup\Veeam.EndPoint.Manager.exe" /standalone
What is the use case for your scenario?

Re: One Single Backup Job per Month!
I’m backing up a server volume, that’s the only update it gets Windows Update!
So one or two backups will do, and save space…
I can survive with 1 incremental… But how set it up?
TIA

Re: One Single Backup Job per Month!
Server version scheduler allows you to perform monthly backups, not workstation edition. You should set the retention to 1.
Then enable monthly full backup:
Schedule the job to run once per month on the same day (Monday in my example) as the Active Full.
This will leave you with one single restore point on disk each month.

Thnx…
Oops… mine is the free edition!
BTW, what’s the relationship between active full backup in Advance, and Schedule? Do I have to set them all? Which depends on which? I kind of confused when it come to these two settings…!!
TIA

Re: One Single Backup Job per Month!
VAW uses a forever incremental meaning there's a full backup once and then each backup after that is an incremental. We then use a transform operation once the restore points expire the set retention policy. The periodic active full backup setting resets the backup chain to start again with an Active Full and then incrementals thereafter.
It is explained in detail in the User Guide. Hope this all helps. Thanks for posting your question!
