Post by toreml »

Hi.

When will Veeam support Oracle 18c on Windows?
I can only see that it supports this on Linux

Hi Tore,

Oracle 18c is supported by the current versions of B&R, VAW, VAL, and Veeam RMAN Plugin. We'll try to enhance our docs to make them more transparent on this aspect.

Update: the documentation has been enhanced.

Thanks

Yes, as usual, you need to back up a machine hosting Oracle DB with application-aware image processing enabled.

So the application aware backup will start the RMAN pluging - and do start the database backup when snapshot backup is running - like it does with SQL backups?

No, this is exactly how VM-based and Agent-based backups work without utilizing RMAN integration - partly similar to SQL T-log backup. Check here for details on RMAN vs B&R/Agent options.
