P to V with Hyper V using Veeam
Hello,
I have a Windows 2003 physical server that I need to virtualize into Hyper V. The Disk2VHD tool keeps failing, and I've searched numerous sites to find resolution, but have not found one that works yet. So can I use Veeam to get a backup of the server, then convert that to a VHDX file so I can add it to the Hyper V server? Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the community Joe,
Veeam Agent for Windows does not support Windows Server 2003 as an operating system, so unfortunately this plan to convert physical disk to virtual disk wont work. Thanks!

Yes, Veeam Agent for Windows supports all operating systems starting from Windows Server 2008R2 SP1 and Windows 7 SP1. Cheers!

So you can take a backup of the whole Physical server, then convert that into a VHDX and create a new Hyper V virtual machine with it? Just confirming. Thanks!

Joe,
You can perform Export as virtual disk or even Instant restore to Hyper-V for backup made with Veeam Agent for Windows, but you must have Veeam B&R console (at least Free edition) to run the said restore type. Cheers!
