performance optimalization network

Post by lowlander »

Hi,

we are currently in the deployment of a Veeam Agent backup environment where agents are being deployed by Veeam Backup & Replication.

Within the network configuration we can use 10 GbE. Test driving some SMB copy jobs between agent and repository results in a decent networkspeed of 500MBps.

When we configure an agent with the option to only back-up specific files, we are aware that the speed is not optimal, however still we notice a read speed of 200 MBps during the back-up to the repository. We also notice that only the proces VeeamAgent.exe is using 200 MBps.

Is it possible to increase the VeeamAgent.exe instances ? We are looking how to utilize the total available bandwidth.

If there are some registry tweaks, please let me know ;)

Hello,
parallel processing is available if you have multiple volumes. As you use file based backup, that option is not available.

Best regards,

Using Image mode backup of volumes speeds up the backups a lot : Regarding 10 GbE connection we see 250 MBps for a full and 60 MBps during incrementals when using File mode backup. Regarding Image mode backup we see a consistent performance increase to 500 MBps in both full and incrementals back-ups.
