Problem with data recorvery.

Post by virusek392 »

Hi,
I have prepared a data recovery tool using your Veeam program. Unfortunately, I wanted to restore the image of the entire system from the NAS device, but unfortunately an error appears saying that the NAS device is using the outdated SMB1 port and it should be updated to the new version. Unfortunately, I cannot update the firmware to a newer version because the NAS device has been out of technical support for a long time.

Hi Lukasz,

If the error you linked on the second screenshot is correct, it's coming from Windows itself (the recovery environment I suppose).

I'm not sure if you can get Powershell or if SMB1 is even allowed in the recovery environments, but if you can get a Powershell window, you can try:

Set-SmbServerConfiguration –EnableSMB1Protocol $true

Then check with Get-SmbServerConfiguration | Select EnableSMB1Protocol to see if it enabled, then try again.

Else, is it not possible on the NAS to change the share setting to SMB2/3 or perhaps one of the other options?

Do you not have somewhere else that supports SMB2 or higher to move the backup files to?

Another idea.
Copy the backup files (VBM, VBK, VIB) to a USB drive and select restore from Local storage.
Or is the backup too large?

Hi Fabian,
If I copy the data to a USB drive, it works. However, I am afraid that if I have data with a capacity of e.g. 2 or 3 TB, this solution may be problematic.
Kind regard
Lukasz
