Question about offsite veeam file
I previously set up an offsite backup om january or february of 2019. I need to know if any of the data might be newer than the vib files, or is the early date on the vib files the data of the actual data that was backed up. This is what I got:
the vbm is the only newer file and the kb is so small ... it can't be very useful. But does this mean the total data is less than 1 terabyte? or is the compression good for text docs like word and pdf. I'm just trying to analyze whether this worth persuing or not. We are looking for data from 2020-2021

Re: Question about offsite veeam file
You should also have at least one VBK file (full backup). Did you not include them in the list above?

Re: Question about offsite veeam file
Without the vbk file (Fullbackup), your vib files are useless.
A vib file is a incremental backup file. It contains only changed blocked since last backup (full or increment).
For restoring a file or folder from this blocks, you need the fullbackup file and all previous vib files since the fullbackup todo a restore from that specific day.
The vbm file contains only metadata about the backup. No real production data in that file.

Re: Question about offsite veeam file
Thanks. The initial vbk file was probably larger than the free space on my computer. Also from this it is safe to assume no info later than 2019? Even if there were a vbk?

Re: Question about offsite veeam file
Yes, this incremental files are daily backups from 19th Feb, 2019 until 25th Feb, 2019.
Without the vbk, you can delete all of this files.
