Recovery hangs at 0% when shrinking

Hi there,

I tried to recover a Windows 2008 R2 Server (Standalone) that I backup with Veeam Endpoint Backup.
It recovers just fine until it gets to "Shrinking...".

The HDD from which I backup is 900 GB in Size.
Now i wanted to recover to an SSD with 128 GB in Size.
Only 40 GB of data are used.
It tells me that it recovers and gets to the Point on which it's shrinking the Partition.

There it sits for at least 1 hour at 0%
Any idea?
This happens with recovery media and with Veeam Endpoint Backup installed.

At some Point I had to move on and did a backup with Acronis and recovered it successfully on the SSD.
I may be able to get a hold on some logs of the installed Veeam Endpoint Backup if necessary.

Can you share the logs please (PM me the link please)? Logs should be placed in the backup repository where the backup file you used during restore resides. Thanks in advance.

In the meantime I opened a Support case and uploaded those logs to the ftp provided by the Support.

I have the excatly same issue.
After a bare metal recovery - to a 240GB SSD disk - coming from a 250GB, the restore proces works fine until shrinking.
Then it stalls at 0% - and Nothing happends..

Glad I tried a restore, before relying on this software..
Any news from support? Dima P. ??

The free space estimate

So, you tried to resized the volume (which was 250GB) into 240GB, right? Do you have a rough estimate on free space for the volume you want to shrink? What was the minimum volume size proposed in the resize window?

What was the solution to this problem? I am currently experiencing the same issue testing a restore to a Hyper-V Machine from a Windows Veeam Agent. Version 2.0. Stuck on shrinking, current time elapsed: 3hrs 21mins.
