Recovery Media not including drivers?

Sorry if there is a thread about this already, my search-fu was not coming up with anything.

I was trying to restore a physical server backed up with VAW (managed through VBR) and when I booted into the recovery environment on a freshly created recovery media there were no Network drivers installed so I could not connect to the repository to get to the backup files.

I thought the drivers from the OS were supposed to be included on the recovery media? I didn't see any options in the creation wizard in the VBR console so I am guessing I am missing something.

I suppose it is good that I have never had to restore before, but this is a bit disconcerting and I would like to make sure the right way to get drivers injected into recovery media as we are moving forward with de-virtualizing a core database server in a couple months.

Hello Steve,

Network and storage drivers should be automatically included. Can you please boot into Recovery Media, go to Tools > Load Drivers and check what drivers are listed there? Thank you.

So it listed the RAID controller with a link for install driver which worked. But it shows the ethernet controlers as "install driver" but I get an error when I try.

Failed to install driver. Error code: ERROR_NO_DEVICE_ID

I updated the server's network drivers and then ran a quick backup and created a new boot drive and am still getting the same error. The 4 ethernet controllers listed are all Intel x722 and they all give the same error.

I guess I should open a support case since the drivers should be included in the RE image.

Thanks for the update! Yes, please raise a support case and share the case ID with us: it looks like a driver specific issue, so debug log analysis is required. Cheers!

It will be a bit before I can get around to it, as it is not a high priority issue for me now that I fixed the windows update problem on the host which was leading me to look to restore from a backup.

Once I get a ticket created I will update the thread.

Hello all.
I am currently trying to restore a backup. The recovery CD is from the same PC on which I want to run the Backup. Unfortunately Veeam does not recognize the raid. When loading the drivers, the following message appears: " Failed to install driver from inf File. Error Code: ERROR_NO_Device_ID". Also attempts with other drivers always brought the same result.

We use the agent version 3.0.2.1170.

Has anyone had this problem before or know of a solution?

Also, did you consider the upgrade? Please check the product lifecycle description to check the End of support dates for the products you use.
