Registry to Show Encryption Enabled

Post by nwood »

Hi,

I was tasked to track down the PCs with VEEAM backup jobs that are no encrypted. I was thinking registry would be an easy way to locate a value showing true or false. Nothing stood out to me while scanning the reg. Would anyone know if this can be red through the registry? How would you scan a PC to see if a backup job was encrypted?

Thanks.

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

Just to be sure... you are using Veeam Agent for Windows standalone and there is no central management with Veeam Backup & Replication?

The configuration is stored in a SQL Express LocalDB. So technically you could open it and run SQL commands against it. I would go for centralized management and then there is no need to track down anything, because the settings are maintained centrally.

Best regards,
Hannes

Correct we are just using the Windows standalone with no central management.

Do you have a link to any VEEAM articles on querying the localDB?

We are trying to figure that out right now about how to manage these backups, I'll have to bring up the recommendation of the centralized management. I really appreciate the help.

the database documentation is "internal only". With some SQL knowledge, it should be possible to find the right tables and values (I remember customers doing that since many years).

CAUTION: changes can (and will) happen with updates. Whatever you implement today will break with the next major upgrade to version 6.
