Rescan Job Very Slow Unless WIndow Firewall Disabled
Hi,
No case number - as I have Community Edition.
I noticed that my rescan jobs for the laptops running Veeam Agent for Windows take a ling time - about 6 mins. per laptop.
If I disabled the Windows Firewalls on those laptops, the rescan takes about 10 secs. per laptop.
I can understand a firewall blocking the Veeam server from rescanning, but I can't understand why it would slow it down.
I'd appreciate help on this.
TIA,
mlavie

Hello,
sounds like a normal timeout value to me.
I guess that the text / logs (c:\programdata\veeam...) shows issues
Please understand that we cannot really answer questions if someone uses the software against the requirements in the user guide.
Best regards,
Hannes

Hi,
Might I ask why you think I'm not meeting requirements?

Let me guess...you wish to have us disable all firewalls?

Hello,
Best regards,
Hannes
because if the firewall is configured correctly, then the rescan does not take 6minMight I ask why you think I'm not meeting requirements?
nope, it works with firewall enabled. Veeam creates some firewall rules during installation and the other ports (like SMB protocol) are documented in the user guideyou wish to have us disable all firewalls
Best regards,
Hannes

The issue is not a firewall issue. The issue is with the agent itself. It is unbelievable how little testing is actually done. Stop blaming your customers.

Hi Aether,
It is hard to tell the root cause of the issue based on 2 forum posts without details and product logs, however, judging that disabling firewall fixes rescan period, it is normal to make sure required ports are open. It takes few minutes to telnet required ports based on documentation link provided by Hannes(by the way, as of 2020, VBRv10 version of same link is here).
If you are experiencing same issue, please check ports and feel free to reach out support, as even Community Edition can open "best effort" handled support tickets.
/Thanks!
