Restoring MBR format disk to NVMe SSD
If the disk type for my backup was MBR, should I be able to restore it to an NVMe SSD? Currently I haven't been able to get this to work.
I have the option to change between Legacy and UEFI boot in the BIOS settings, but the result is the same (black screen -> return to boot menu).

Hi Ryan,
Can you elaborate was the operating system and system reserved partitions both restored via BMR? Thanks.

Re: Restoring MBR format disk to NVMe SSD
Hi Dima,
The OS is Windows 10, and I have 3 partitions from the source:
1. System Reserved
2. Windows
3. Lenovo Recovery Partition
I kept the partition scheme from the source, so I attempted to restore all 3 of the partitions listed above.
I am unsure what happens behind the scenes during this process, but I assume Veeam Endpoint uses the same partition style as the source (in this case MBR) during recovery?

You will need to perform a clean install. Your system is MBR. NVMe system drive boot requires UEFI and GPT partition.

Is this true for a volume level restore atop a clean install of Win10?

Re: Restoring MBR format disk to NVMe SSD
Any update on this? Programs like Macrium Reflect can do this, so Veeam should be able to do it also?

I read the Macrium Reflect Knowledge Base Article. After you restore the partition you are referred to another Knowledge Base Article to fix the boot problem. This is a complex procedure. Veeam Agent is designed for backup and restore of a fully functioning system making it as easy as possible to backup and restore your system. For what you are trying to accomplish. Macrium Reflect is your best option.
