Restoring VM's in Alibaba Cloud ECS
Hey all,
I've recently been testing Veeam V10 in Alibaba Cloud ECS. I managed to work out how to get a bootable Veeam recovery media working and successfully restored a VM from our Cloud Connect environment.
You'll find more all the details in my blog post here: https://adventuresincloud.com/instance- ... ackup-v10/
Full disclaimer: I work for an MSP and use Veeam/Alibaba cloud quite extensively
Cheers

Hi team,
Can anyone share the process of restoring the Alibaba ECS Windows/Linux instance with Veeam Recovery Media?
Open a Support ticket with the number: 06091007 for the same request.
We have tried one of the Openstack procedures, but it's not working.
I would appreciate it if anyone could share the process.
Many Thanks,
Mohammed Junaid Ahmed

Hi,
You can use the export backup feature in Veeam to accomplish this. Here are the steps to follow:
Export the backup as a VHD format image.
Upload the VHD image to OSS.
Create a custom image from the VHD.
Launch an ECS instance from the custom image.
This process can be a bit time-consuming, but it gets the job done. I'm not sure if there is an alternative method available.
Let me know if you need any additional information.
Regards,
MJ
