Services suddenly stopped working

Post by xanod »

Hi everyone,
I LOVE Veeam Agent for Windows, everything is OK on all my computers, except two of them.

After the fresh install the GUI is innacessible and just a simple indication says: "Service suddenly stopped working. Please refer to this article for troubleshooting this issue."

I tried to uninstall and reinstall (including all the SQL components) without antivirus (ESET).
The KB1959 didn't fix it.
The RecreateDatabase registry didn't fix it.

I've found errors in Veeam logs in ProgramData:

Code: Select all

Each time I open the GUI the Service suddenly stops.

It's the same error on the two computers (But different brand/model - laptop/workstation - 7 Enterprise / 8.1 Enterprise).

I will higly appreciate any help.

Hi Remy,

First: Welcome to the forums!

Can you open a support case with us? (It's free, but no SLA). You probably won't be able to do it on the problematic machines (as the UI is not working) but create a case on one of your other computers and mention it that the problem is with other computers. Then support will contact you for further investigation

Please post the case ID here (and after that the follow-up and result)

Thanks
Mike

I'm facing exactly this issue with the recent update (March 2018). I've raised a support case with Veeam and will post back when it's resolved. Case #02722928.

Hello,

having sam troubles here on testing the client backup (Trial Period).
I'm not so amused about the troubles.

On my side it seems to be the Avast! Business Antivurs-Solution that blocks the agent/service even after configure the exceptions mentioned by the KB of veeam.
Will follow this thread to get a look when new informations are ready.

Greetings from Austria.

Hi Rainhard,

First: Welcome to our forums!

Could you also create a support case please? In the previous case that is mentioned here a DB recreation was necessary to get it fixed. So it might be completely different from what you are experiencing.
Post the case ID and the potential outcome here also

Thanks

[MERGED] Services suddenly stopped working on fresh install

Post by kameleon »

Just received my Dell XPS 17 9710 with Windows 10 21H1 OS build 19043.1466. As per my usual procedures, one of the first things I install is Veeam Agent for Windows. I installed 5.0.1.4584 version. After installation I am met with the "Services suddenly stopped working" message. I have followed KB1959 and rebooted multiple times. I have removed/uninstalled Veeam Agent, rebooting, reinstalling to no avail. Anyone have an idea where to even begin on this? I am using the free version of Veeam Agent but we do have paid support for Veeam B&R and O365 backup. I did open a support case through the application interface. Support case number is 05231943

*EDIT* Upgrading windows to 21H2 seems to have fixed the issue.
