Software Update?

Post by ninjaburn81 »

I recall a few weeks ago Gostev noted in the weekly digest that an update for the BETA was planning on being released. Will this still happen or are we skipping it and going straight to the GA?

I was thinking the same thing a few days ago.

Would love to see an option to send email alerts just like B&R before the GA.

Adam,
The update does exist, but it is a cumulative private fix for most common issues we received from support team. We have to focus on fixes first in order to improve Endpoint GA quality, so no new features were included.

Massimiliano,
Email notification will be available as a part of integration with VBR repository (basically, VBR global notification option will handle the Endpoint jobs)

So we should expect a fix update to be released here on the forum? ETA? Thank you!

I was assuming they were just bug fixes, but what about releasing the updated files for the BETA testers to pound on a bit more? Just post it to an FTP site or something? Hell even if they were just DLL files, it wouldn't take much for us to write a batch file to de-reg, remove, copy, reg the files!

Hello Chris,
Indeed, there are no updates for existing BETA, please, wait till the GA version of the product. Thank you.

Is release close?

Post by Keyser »

I know you won't give dates and specifics, but is general release close or are we talking months to go?

Reason i'm asking is there have been no updates to the beta so I'm wondering if we will see a beta update or just go directly to GA?

Hi Keyser,
The GA will be available soon - that is the main reason why we are not going to release updates for the existing BETA.

Can you share it on the forums, as we have planned originally?

We have this product testing on 6 machines and only 2 of them currently are working. We've been waiting on an update... any update, to see if it will resolve the issues. The product has potential, especially when people are wanting to replace their backup solution with Veeam but still have a very small handful of physical machines still to manage. Is the plan still to go straight to GA without any fixes for the BETA?

It sounds like we're all testing software that is already out of date, and the GA release will not receive any beta testing??

As I posted above all the issues we received thru support team (or this forum) will be fixed in GA. Have you opened a support case regarding the problems you faced, if it’s a known issue there must be a solution or private hotfix at the support side. If it’s something new – you will definitely help us to improve the product quality.

Just to follow up on my own request:
1. We have decided not share the current update rollup widely, because it's installation is pretty complex (requires recreation of the configuration database). We are distributing it through support to beta testers who run into some of the blocking issues.
2. We are planning to make an RC build available in about 2 weeks so that it gets some testing before we go GA.
Thanks!
