SQL Backup - The right way

Post by tomers@y-tech.net »

Hi,

Can someone shed some light on the correct way of backing up SQL servers with VAW?
1. Do we have to select the DB files and folders?
2. Do we have to select the Logs files and folders?

We have huge restore points due to the fact that we mark all the files for backup and it looks like CBT is not really handy here.

What is the right and official way to setup a job for SQL backup with VAW, while keeping restore points as low as possible and taking full advantage of CBT for faster backups?

Thanks.

The procedure for Agent standalone is in the guide. You will have todo volume level backups with the agent and configure application aware processing. If you do file level backup, the entire sql db file will be backuped each time because it has change.

https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=40

Vor VBR Managed scenarios, you will also have todo volume level backups with application aware enabled.
