Unable to bare metal recover from network

Post by hoFFy »

I'm just testing the bare metal recovery from a shared network drive, but I'm unable to load the drivers for my Realtek onboard NIC.
When installing Endpoint on that client I've chosen to save the needed drivers, but when booting from stick for bare metal recovery I can only see a network device. When clicking on install drivers it installs drivers, shows then the Realtek NIC but there are no networks found. When clicking install drivers again it says I have to reboot and the NIC goes offline, deactivating all leds.

Anybody else experiencing this behavior?

Got it, so the Network step of the wizard is completely blank?

Correct, when I choose to restore from network I don't see any available networks. When trying to install the driver, because the NIC shows as "network adapter" the install process finishes without warning or errors, but the symbol of the NIC shows a yellow exclamation mark. Going back, doesn't show any available network and the NIC goes physikally offline, the leds don't blink any more.

I was able to go through the bare metal restore on my laptop just fine using a shared folder and my onboard NIC.

However, I tried using wifi with WPA Enterprise Radius Security initially and it just simply asked for a password, which doesn't work with WPA Enterprise. But, plugging in the cable worked just fine for me. Didn't have to load drivers or anything.

Yes, we do not currently support WPA-Enterprise.

Sebastian,

If it possible, can you retry your issue and collect the recovery appliance logs: after you installed the Ethernet driver close the restore wizard, from the boot screen go to tools and using the collect logs tool save it to the removable media. Please share these logs and send me a PM with the download link? Thank you in advance.
