Unable to create recovery Media / error 1812

I just installed on another computer : windows 8.1 x64 and I cannot create the recovery media as an ISO file



Any hints on how to solve the error ?

thank you, but bad luck even with the fix I was still not able to create recvoery media, it asks for WinRE ou ADT, I give both and it does not please the software..

Has this issue ever been resolved.
I get the same error:

Creating recovery media fails with the following errors:
Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) component is missing. Specify the location of Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise x64 installation files (you may need to insert your Windows installation media). Alternatively, download and install Windows ADK.

And:
Error Failed to create recovery media: one of the required permissions was not assinged to the client.
(this one is partly translated from dutch, thus it may be somewhat inaccurate.)

I am now unable to create recovery media.

I am unable to create a support case.
The support tab in the application does not acknowledge my e-mail address (tried all three of them).
And on the website under product i cannot select Endpoint Backup.

The first time you need to register your email adres. (Even if you are known through our support system...) this is to avoid spam bots. After that you will receive an email notification (takes a couple of minutes) and then you can activate it. Then it should work

May I ask you to download and install the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK) and then retry recovery media creation? It seems you OS is just missing some components we use while building the recovery media. Don’t forget to share the results!

I Installed de Windows ADK but i still get the same dialogue.

Windows Component Missing etc etc.

I also downloaded Windows Installation media and browsed to the .wim files on the DVD, searched for the winre.wim on the local disc and pointed towards it but none of this will help.
It always tells me "the specified location does not contain Windows installation media"

Hello Dima,

I'm having the same problem - there is Windows 7 (actually Windows Embedded Standard 7) without recovery partition, I've installed WADK 8.1, but Create Recovery Media is still asking me for Windows installation media path.

Can you post here - what exactly file or path does wizard need? And it would be nice to add this info to the error window - as it's completely uninformative now.

Nikolai,

Generally, you just have to load windows installation media to your computer and point wizard to the root directory. However, Embedded version does not have RE components (same with it’s installation media).

Try to install ADK for Windows 7 ( 8.1 won’t work due to difference in components versions). Easier way, create a recovery media at any other fully functional Windows 7 machine – it should restore Embedded backups without issues.

Out of curiosity, what services are you running on Windows 7 Embedded or is it used by end users?
