Unable to perform application-aware processing

Post by dcampregher »

Hello!

I'm trying to configure a JOB ( Maneged by backup server ) for Veeam Agent for Windows. What i need is put a script ( pre-freeze ) to do the export Oracle database files and then copy this directoy to the repository.

In the JOB configuration i need select the "Application-aware Processing" to make possible the script configuration. What's happening is that the JOB is trying to do the "Application Aware" even in all possible configurations and this is a problem because i can't touch the Oracle Services at the backup time.

Question: Is possible to configure the Veeam JOB/Agent to run a script whithou activate the Aware option ?

Hello dcampregher,

Have you tried to disable the transaction log processing for this specific machine? Cheers!

Yes! It was disabled! "Copy Only"

17/03/2020 11:13:12 :: Unable to perform application-aware processing of Oracle database (SID: XXXX) : Oracle error has occurred. ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

--tr:OracleSession: failed to init server.
--tr:Failed to create oracle session.
--tr:Failed to create oracle session holder. SID: XXXX.

This a POC. The V10 is being tested.

Diogo,

Thanks! Can you please clarify what backup mode is used (i.e. entire computer, volume level or file level)?

File level. The database exported data is checked to be in the backup.

Thanks Diogo. Configuration looks correct, the error you've shared represents that Veeam Agent cannot connect to the Oracle instance, similar issue was described here. Can you please raise a support case and ask our support team to investigate the root cause based on the debug logs? Cheers!

So Dima! This is exactly the question. I wan't do the backup integrated with the Oracle. I need simply to put a script to execute before a file level backup. I don't understand why the Veeam is trying to touch the Oracle and there is no documentation specific for this. This a PoC, we don't have time to open a case to understand this behavior.

I'm working with our SE to adress this case.
