Unbootable Disk after Bare Metal Recovery

Post by strivoli2 »

Hi, I'm using latest version (2.2). I did a complete Backup of the Disk and had to erase it completely to run some tests. Once finished I started the Bare Metal Recovery ("Entire Computer" option) and the Recovery finished successfully. When I try to boot from the Disk it fails because it's detected as unbootable. What might be wrong? Thanks.

Hello strivoli2.

Was that an Operating System disk? Did you include System Reserved/EFI partition in the backup? Thanks.

Hi, the Disk is a Dual Boot (W7+W10). I installed Veeam on the W10 Partition and did a Full Backup (all Partitions included on the Disk). So to answer to your questions:
Q1: Was that an Operating System disk?
A1: YES it was with W7 and W10 with W10 set as the default booting OS.
Q2: Did you include System Reserved/EFI partition in the backup?
A2: YES, I did a Full Backup of the entire Disk. ALL Partitions included.

Thank you for any suggestions. Regards.

I have 3 "Screenshots" that might help. How can I post them?

Thanks. Please see https://imgur.com/a/eZK53jy
1st image is the result of the Recovery. Please see the TOSHIBA has NON child items.
2nd image is what I get when I try to boot.
3rd image is the result of a "Fresh" W10 install starting from a complete blank Disk. Please see the TOSHIBA HAS child items which allows me to boot.

The conclusion is that Veeam Restores all Partitions (data is there) but misses something at the end of the Recovery process. What might be missing and how can I get the system boot after Recover?
Thanks.

For image 3, I believe it is asking you which to boot with: UEFI or traditional BIOS (legacy).

For an in-depth explanation, follow this link: https://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?titl ... S_v/s_UEFI

With image 3 I have no issues. The PC boots as it should.
The problem is after I've run Bare Metal Recovery and I get image 1 and 2. As you see image 1 has no child items (image 3 has child items) and because of no child items the PC doesn't boot. What might be missing after the Bare Metal Recovery?

The only other thing I can think of is that the HD, after recovery, does not have a partition that is set as the boot drive. Just a guess.

Hello strivoli2.

Unfortunately I am out of ideas. Is it possible for you to submit a case to our support team and share the case ID with me? You can do that via Veeam Agent for Windows Control Panel > Support > Technical Support. Thank you in advance.
