Updating Veeam Backup server to v11 will stop Veeam Backup Agent to work?

Post by albertwt »

Hi All,

I wanted to perform the update for my VBR server rom the existing version 10.0.1.4854 into the latest edition Version: 11.0 Build: 11.0.0.837 P20210525 using the inline upgrade from the VeeamBackup&Replication_11.0.0.837_20210525.iso file.

However, there are multiple Veeam Agent installed on my Microsoft SQL Server 2016 Enterprise Cluster (Always On) VM that is backed up using the Veeam Agent:
Agent Version: 4.0.0.1811
Driver Version: Veeam Volume CT Driver (10.0.0.4342)
Does the VBR server update can cause the Veeam backup Agent to stop working, hence require the target SQL cluster reboot / outage to make it working again?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I repeat what I mentioned a couple of times already: please open cases only for technical issues ;-)

I see that support already helped you out while it's not their job to do "professional service". So I only repeat what the user guide says: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110

VAW4 is supported. Reboots are required for CBT driver update.

The release notes list more reasons for reboots (.net framework) https://www.veeam.com/veeam_agent_windo ... tes_rn.pdf

Best regards,
Hannes

Hi @HannesK,

Sure that is make sense :-)
I will stop the automatic update so the CBT driver will not be upgraded automatically.

Thanks for the confirmation.
