Servus Community,
we are currently working with Veeam B&R 9.5 and are preparing to migrate to version 11. Our physical machines are currently backed up with an Agent version 3.x. The upgrade guide said that these agents will no longer work, but version 4.x agents will still work.
We do not find the capability on the servers to update the agent via a GUI as described in [1]. Neither is it a program icon in the systray, nor in the Windows start menu. Only the service is running. Can or do we have to update the agent manually or can we do it later from the B&R console after the upgrade to version 11?

Re: Upgrade physical Agent on Windows
Hello,
The best thing to do is as you said, update to VBR v11, and then upgrade the Agents from the Console itself, before you do it, and to give you a bit more control, make sure your Protection Groups have this option unchecked:
And make sure that VAW v5 is supported by your Operating Systems, etc - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=50
I doubt you can select the version to upgrade to, meaning if you are in VAW v3, and you install VBR, and run the update agents manually from VBR with the rescan and update agent, you can say, update to v4, or to v5, it just picks up the latest package the VBR has, which in this case is VAW v5.
You can double-check this by opening a support ticket and letting them know about your scenario.

Re: Upgrade physical Agent on Windows
Hello Tom,
In addition to the post above, the agents are managed by VBR, therefore you need to follow this guide instead of the guide for standalone agents.
Thanks

Re: Upgrade physical Agent on Windows
Hi guys,
so I have now proceeded by updating the VBR server to version 11 and checking the checkbox for automatic agent update as noted above. After a rescan of the each Protection Group, all agents were on the current version 5.x.
So far, everything looks good.
Thx & Bye Tom
