VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
Would it be possible for the new Windows agent to support HP StoreOnce, either directly or through a VBR repository? Right now, I have to backup through a NAS share and lose the catalyst integration we have all grown to love.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
Hi guys,
The only way is to use HPE StoreOnce as a CIFS for VAW backup jobs. However, we plan to enhance this functionality in later versions.

Diogo,
Unfortunately, that’s not possible in current version.

Will VEEAM 10 support backing up from veeam agent for windows directly to storeonce catalyst instead of cifs, as it is currently?

Thomas, It's a bit early to say anything definite about v10 complete feature set.

Re: VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
+1 for this feature
We're in the process of migrating everything to Veeam (*fist pump*) and our physical servers are the last to go but we've had to utilise a CIFS share on our shiny new StoreOnce to get across.
Glad to hear it may be an option in the future.
Cheers,
Tim

Another +1 for this feature.
Bit of a buzz kill to find out that even as of 9.5 U2, VAW cannot write to a repo that's backed by a StoreOnce Catalyst store. What's the sticking point? Isn't the Catalyst client API baked into the target data mover? Why exactly does VAW care what the backing storage is behind the target data mover? Seems like the target data mover should be a complete abstraction layer between the source of the data and the target storage such that the former cares not what the latter is.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
Jim,
VAW requires some logic to be implemented on it’s end to support direct backup to StoreOnce. We plan to support this scenario soon (most likely next major release). As a temporary solution we recommend to use StoreOnce as a CIFS repository for agent backup jobs.

+1 again for Catalyst stores as VAW repos.
Loads of people are clamouring for this (have been for years), and the latest here from Dima says "soon" but that was 18 months ago!
When?
Thanks
Ian

Re: VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
Ian,
We are still working on Catalyst support for both standalone and managed agents. Would it be enough to provide the ability to target StoreOnce Catalyst Veeam B&R repository or your are looking for any additional improvements? Thanks!

Re: VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
The 'still working' mantra is getting old...
I'd like to back up to a Catalyst store with VAW agents. As all environments that I manage also use at least B&R Enterprise that would be the preferred way of doing it. Backing up to CIFS shares and then a backup copy to a Catalyst repo is too inefficient.

Re: VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
Yes Dima - target as a VBR repository, which is already a Catalyst store, is what I need.
Also the option of a Copy job after the Agent job, to copy to another StoreOnce Catalyst store, if that's not too much of an ask.
Many thanks.
Ian

Folks,
Thank you for the details! We fully understand that StoreOnce Catalyst support is very demanded, so we are doing our best to bring this functionality to your hands as soon as possible.

Re: VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
Any progress with StoreOnce Catalyst support, or secondary stores for VAW backups? Shame they weren't in U4 or U4A.
If Catalyst support & secondary stores were available, I would switch all my physical backups to Veeam straightaway - but as it is, I will have to continue using a competing product, extending its expensive support for another year or two. Please hurry up!!

Hello,
We are on the verge of another major release, any chance it includes Catalyst support for VAW and VAL?

Yes, thanks to architectural changes in v10, anything backed up by Veeam such as with VAW and VAL can now use any VBR repo including Catalyst repositories.

Hello folks,
With the latest version of Veeam Agent for Windows you can use StoreOnce added to Veeam B&R as a backup target. Please keep in mind that this required Veeam Agent for Windows v4 and Veeam B&R v10. Cheers!

Mistake in v4 requirements guide?

1Consider the following:
Advanced integration with HPE StoreOnce storage appliances via the HPE StoreOnce Catalyst technology is not supported. If you want to use an HPE StoreOnce storage appliance as a Veeam backup repository, add the HPE StoreOnce repository to the backup infrastructure as a CIFS share.

Re: VAW and StoreOnce - Feature Request
Eugene,
The only requirement is to add HPE StoreOnce as Veeam repository and you are good to go. I've asked technical writers to update the Help Center page. Thank you for sharing!
