Veeam Agent Considers Windows Storage Spaces Drive Internal

I have 2 external USB drives that I combined into a single Windows Storage Space drive, for redundency. However, Veeam Agent sees the Storage Spaces drive as an internal drive, and will not let me set it as a backup location. Is this a known issue? Is there a way around it?

Sorry for the delay. You were saying that after configuring storage spaces you can’t select it as removable storage but do you see it as local drives? Thanks.

That is correct, Veeam Agent says "Unable to perform entire computer backup to an internal disk". It currently shows up as my E: drive.

Windows doesn't let Removable Disks become part of the storage spaces pool. For some reason your system thinks your Removable Disks are Internal Disks.

That is incorrect, my storage space is constructed of two USB drives.

Once your external hard drives are added to the storage spaces pool they become part of the virtual hard drive. The virtual hard drive is not a removable drive.

That sounds right. Whenever storage spaces drive is configured it you should see the volume as internal device (virtual disk).

Ok, so there is not currently a way to use Veeam Agent with a Storage Spaces device setup, correct?

It should work as local storage. You were saying that you can see the volume created via storage spaces as a local volume, is that correct or I am missing something?

That is correct, it shows up as local storage. However, the Agent will not allow me to run in "Entire Computer" backup mode against local storage. Thus, I am not able to use a Windows Storage Space as a backup target in "Entire Computer" mode, which is what I was hoping to accomplish.

Understood, thanks! There is a hack for that - choose volume level backup instead and select all volumes.
