Veeam Agent for Windows 2.0 - Compression

Post by _Ben_ »

Hi There,

I have setup a protection group, deployed the agent and then setup a backup job. I want to use compression within the backup job but comes at a cost of x10 more CPU. Where does this compression happen? On the agent i.e. server that is being backed up or does this use the distribution server?

Also, if I wanted to use the deduplication option on storage that does not have deduplication does this still work? If yes, where does this overheard go?

TIA

Hi Ben - the compression will be performed on the Agent system - so it does not take CPU resources of a remote proxy or on the Veeam Backup & Replication server (where the job is managed).
