Veeam Agent for Windows Free - calculatingDigests

Post by rborhara »

Hi i running Veeam Agent for Windows v 2.2.0.589 and having issues with a physical server backup

The backup is configured to backup the entire physical server over a WAN connection
it backs up to Veeam backup repository (dell dr4000 unit) the Veeam server is running a newly upgraded Veeam 9.3Update 3b
Firewall Port port 10001 is ooen between Agent and Veeam Server
Ive also opened port 2500-5000tcp (between agent and the Veeam server and veeam proxies)
but all i see the below in the job

08/01/2019 08:49:30 :: Initializing
08/01/2019 08:52:56 :: Preparing for backup
08/01/2019 08:53:00 :: Required backup infrastructure resources have been assigned
08/01/2019 08:56:49 :: Creating VSS snapshot
08/01/2019 08:57:40 :: Calculating digests

incidently my 2 other physical servers running an older agent 2.0 backup runs fine and completes within minutes

Hello rborhara,

What the estimated size of the volumes (or files) you are backing up? Thanks!

Hi approx 300GB, but not fully used. The bacup has actually completed should have just left it alone
Just curious what calculating digest means. also anyone else notice the % completion in the Veeam Server doesnt progess just says 0% then complete

rborhara,

Glad to hear!
Just curious what calculating digest means.
Agent is building a map of data blocks to process, then it will create backup file based on changed data (so eventually you get an incremental restore point with only changed data).
also anyone else notice the % completion in the Veeam Server doesnt progess just says 0% then complete
Veeam B&R server updates job progress upon backup job competition (stats are not update instantly).
