Veeam Agent for Windows

Post by luipez »

I have configured the following JOB:

- Backup Mode: FILE LEVEL BACKUP

- Files: C: + S.O. + 5 folders on another HD DATA - (HD connected to the same PC)

- Destination: LOCAL STORAGE on another HD x BACKUP - (another HD connected to the same PC)

From the installation I made the following three backups:

Num. Restore pint size Backup duration

1 173 GB 3h 17 '37 "
2 173 GB 2h 02 '56 "
3 176 GB 0h 50 '55 "

I ask you:

1) why backups 1 and 2 lasted less?

2) is FILE LEVEL BACKUP mode an INCREMENTAL backup?

3) if the disk space of DESTINATION runs out, does the backup in progress stop, or is the oldest backup deleted to make space?

Greetings!

- Backup speed depends on various factors, most relevant in your case are Read Speed and Write Speed. So if all 3 backups made are Full backups(depends how those backups were made - manually or scheduled, job settings matter!), it most likely because of current load on a server.
- All Veeam backups are incremental by default - in case of File-level backup(least efficient in terms of data handling) that means only changed files are backed up - that is, we do not compare block-level changes within a file, so entire file is backed up if it changes a bit.
- If destination runs out of space, backup will be terminated. We will warn you in advance prior that happens.

/Thanks!
