Veeam agent synchronisation

Post by dopamind »

Hi teams,

i deployed veeam agent on workstation via VBR ( Managed By Agent mode )
I would like to know the time synchronisation between Agent and VBR.
My issue is when i want to change backup time in job , there no synchro on veeam agent and i must force synchronisation on agent.
it is not very convenient.
Thanks for your feedback

Regards
Seb

i find an answer in doc

Veeam Agent does not connect to Veeam Backup & Replication immediately after updated backup policy settings are saved. Veeam Agent checks whether Veeam Backup & Replication has any updates in the backup policy settings periodically. As a result, a time period between scenario steps 1 and 2 may take up to 6 hours.

So we need to force the synchro on the client after modifiy Backup job configuration on VBR

Hi Dopamind

Agent Policies updates are synced when your automatic protection group rescan is run.
Or you can use the Apply Configuration button in the right-click menu in the Veeam console.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

The behavior is different for protection groups with pre-installed agents. Your statement from the doc is about protection groups with pre-installed agents.

What type of protection group have you deployed?
- Individual computers
- Microsoft Active Directory objects
- Computers from CSV file
- Computers with pre-installed agents
- Cloud machines

Hi Fabian,

just another question.
we are in restrict area and we need to deploy veeam agent in pre-installed agents on physical machine with tiers tools to avoid open ports
the issue is that type of deployment is not permit in server mode / manage by backup server
the goal is to manage backup job from Veeam Entreprise Manager
this is a way to bypass this and deploy Veeam agent server in pre-installed mode ?
in below the error message

Hi Dopamind

Unfortunately, there is no way to bypass that.

Hi Fabian,

i redo the config on my homelab and it works.
So the plan :
  • Configure protection group with pre installed machines
  • deploy all the msi ( veeam installer service , veeam agent and Veeam transport
  • attach machine with the xml file in VBR
  • Attach CP to a new backup Job
And Done
