customer have some older Server Windows 2008 R2 64bit Standard on-premise, physical
Do you know whether Veeam Endpoint Backup is better than "onboard Windows Backup on USB Drive"?

Veeam is always better as "Windows Built In Backup".
Every Backup Software has some better options and features, because they are specialized for backup, not like Microsoft
"Server Windows 2008 R2 64bit Standard" should be supported with Veeam Agent 4.0:
