Veeam Endpoint Backup on (physical) Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello,

i´m using Veeam Endpoint Backup on a phsyical Windows Server 2012 R2 server. The Server is running as Domain Controller and Fileserver, got Sophos AV installed and nothing else. The backup target is a smb share.

I receive the following Error:

Creating VSS snapshot Error: Failed to create snapshot: Backup job failed.
 Cannot create a shadow copy of the volumes containing writer's data.
 A VSS critical writer has failed. Writer name: [FRS Writer].
 Class ID: [{d76f5a28-3092-4589-ba48-2958fb88ce29}]. Instance ID: [{11d39b22-37d8-4737-9ddb-c022f7648e95}].
 Writer's state: [VSS_WS_FAILED_AT_FREEZE]. Error code: [0x800423f2]. 

When i check the writers (vssadmin list writers) all writeres are in stable/no error mode.

Dont have one yet, testing out a reinstallation right now. Will open it later.

I also forgot to mention, windows backup is running fine. The server is already hosting DFSR.

Hi Mishuri,

QA asked if it’s possible to test VAW 2.0 beta for this server. Certain fixes were implemented specifically for DFRS, so this issue might be resolved in new version.
