VEB 1.0 and Windows 10 issues
I upgraded my Windows 7 system to Windows 10 Pro (not beta) and I find the Veeam Backup Service does not stay up.
Will Windows 10 Pro be supported, and if so, is there a target availability date?
I'd like to be able to take backups again.
thanks

Hi, please see KB2057 regarding your issue, and the adjacent topic regarding official Windows 10 support release timelines. Thanks!

Re: VEB 1.0 and Windows 10 issues
I also installed Windows 10.
As I received the Service-Error, I uninstalled Veeam Endpoint Backup.
After that, I tried to Install Your software again: Then the Error Message was: "Current operating system ist not supported or lacks the required service pack. See system requirements for more information."
How long have I to wait, so that I can backup my Client with Windows 10 with Your brilliant tool?
Thanks!

Re: VEB 1.0 and Windows 10 issues
The below is a not supported way of installing Veeam Endpoint Backup 1.0 on Windows 10 machine and I strongly recommend you to await for the upcoming 1.1 version release with Windows 10 support onboard. That being said here is a workaround to avoid the setup limitations:
1. Extract VeeamEndpointBackup_1.0.0.1954.exe installation with WinRAR.
2. assuming the pre requirements have already been installed. (If not install it from …\VeeamEndpointBackup_1.0.0.1954\EndPoint\Redistr folder)
3. Open …\VeeamEndpointBackup_1.0.0.1954\EndPoint\EndPoint
4. Choose the correct .msi (x64 or x86) installer
5. Launch the installation
6. Dont forget to make sure autoupdate is enabled at the Control Panel Update's tab

Re: VEB 1.0 and Windows 10 issues
The workaround wouldn't work for me. Basically, at step 5, it just unpacks all the installer files without registering the services or DB.
I just needed to recover some files from a previous backup on Win8.1 after installing Win10. The only solution was to recover the files using another Win8 station and sending the files, through the network, to the Win10 machine.

Hi Bob,
Yup is the same solution I’ve described above. The only difference the pre requirements installation is desribed here

Re: VEB 1.0 and Windows 10 issues
Just installing the pre-requirements will not let VEB be installed on 10 correctly.
It's very important to follow all the steps, exactly as described, in this YouTube clip:

Thank you Midgetisking for your post.
The "Local Admin" error is what I got and the author of the video is correctly describing how to overcome that in his video.
Also make sure you do not have any failed and previous versions of VEB, i.e., Beta installed on your Windows 10. Because that would also make the installation fail (the steps outlined in the video would not work if you do have failed installation of VEB on your machine).

Great news. 1.1 is working on 10 with tricks and tweaks required.
Thank you very much.
