Veeam Endpoint Free for Hyper-V Host

Post by satnamsat »

We are a small company and have a server running backups using Endpoint. 2 Guest are running server 2016 and 1 of them is running SQL server. Is this backup good enough ?

Do you backup the entire host or individual VMs? Have you considered using Veeam Backup Free instead (to protect VMs)?

Thanks for the quick reply, I am backing the entire host.

No, I have not tried but certainly can give it a shot. How is good it for SQL Server? Do I install it on both the machines, just like Endpoint?

Veeam Backup FREE is a VM-image level backup solution. You don't need to install it inside the VM, just deploy it to the Hyper-V host, add it to the console and start backing up VMs. Veeam Endpoint FREE uses the same logic for processing applications as we have it in Veeam Backup FREE. It should be good for simple deployments (where you do not need to back up transaction logs).
