After changing my AV to Kaspersky Cloud Free edition from Avira, I cannot backup my PC using Veeam Agent for Windows. My laptop still uses Avira and it works fine. I am backing up to a Freenas smb share. The error is at the VSS creation stage. I have added AV exceptions for Veeam as described in kb2034. Error below
Creating VSS snapshot Error: Failed to create snapshot: Backup job failed. Discovery phase failed. Cannot add volumes to the snapshot set. Cannot add a volume to the snapshot set. Volume name: [\\?\Volume{7280cb9b-0eef-4602-8216-6b1fc38dbb02}\]. Cannot check whether volume supported by the system software provider. VSS error: VSS_E_UNEXPECTED_PROVIDER_ERROR. Code:0x8004230f
What am I doing wrong?

Hello Angus,
To clarify: if you disable the AV completely backup works without any issues or you still have this error? Thanks!

Well it seems Kaspersky is not the culprit. I uninstalled it and it gives the same error, even after deleting the backup job and creating a new one. The only other change is I have upgraded Freenas to 11.3 from 11.2. However my laptop has no problem with this.

Thanks for the update. Looks like the VSS component issue, can you please do the following:
1. Start command prompt as administrator (Start > Run > cmd)
2. In command prompt, launch vssadmin list providers command
3. Share the output with us
