Veeam Workstation Licence for Server OS

Post by PariPari »

Hello,

we have some Servers with Server OS that needs protection, but only on file level basis. No Applications (SQL, Exchange etc) are installed.
Would the Workstation Licence be enough to protect the Server? (and do a bare metal Desaster recovery to vmware: https://www.veeam.com/kb2072 ?)

I Know about the "Server focused scheduler". But these Servers don't need Backup Windows or automatic Job Retrys.
Is there anything else that I am missing here?

best regards :-)

Hi PariPari,

Yes, workstation mode can be used to protect servers without mission critical applications.

Adding on to what Dima mentioned:
without mission critical applications
Server version has the application-aware image processing just like BnR does for VMs and Workstation version does not have this and there's also different scheduling options. So if whatever you're protecting doesn't need application consistency - SQL, A/D, Exchange, etc and is perhaps a web server or any other general purpose server workstation version should suffice.
