vib icon change and can not open it

Post by fganhao »

Hi,
I have veeam free installed to backup without problem.
It turns out that yesterday the .vib files changed the icon and I can't open it like I used to.
How can I fix this? I can choose the "open with" option but which .exe do I use inside the weeam folder?
I leave an image of right and wrong.
Thanks

Hello Fernando,

Try to click vbk file and then select restore point. If am not missing anything vib never opened the restore point browser, you should either click vbk (full backup file) or vbm (metadata file). Thanks!

Hello,

Likely you've tried to open the vib via the backup browser and somehow saved the default program in Windows settings (so it's not about the icon but about the default program to open the file extension with). Now vib extension is associated with Veeam backup browser thus Windows explorer displays it's icon. Try to Restore Default Apps for File Type Associations in Windows 10 or this hack How to undo "always open with" option in Windows 10. Also you can modify the registry: How to Remove Programs from the “Open With” Context Menu in Windows. Thanks!
