Web Admin Console Feature Request

Post by nvetrano » 1 person likes this post

I really love Veeam Enterprise Manager. A web console for Endpoint would be fantastic. A quick view of all jobs success or failure. Ability to initiate a file restore. Perhaps a way to have the end user initiate a request for restore and then the admin can the restore right from the web console. Veeam could even offer to host such a console for a small monthly fee, or it can be a stand-lone installer for local hosting and management.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback. This won't be around when v1 hits GA, but we are certainly taking all feedback with us for further versions.

Do you have more thoughts or features that you would like to see in that web console (even if they don't exist in VEM today... Let your imagination and wishes work :D )

I would love to hear about them, and the reason why you would like that

Thanks again!

Cheers

Web Console Wishes:

1. I'd love to see a "dashboard" view of all endpoints that report into the web console. Summary entries like Last 24 Hrs. Simple Success or Fail graphs or lists with ability to drill-down as needed to individual endpoint details. Perhaps a Summary box with endpoints connected, not connected, in over an hour or other reasonable time-frame.

2. An Endpoint tab, like the VM tab in VEM, with a spreadsheet-style list of all endpoints and basic info with clickable links to drill-down into specifics of backup history and settings.

3. Ability to have a summary email report for all jobs, with error reporting for all endpoints. That way we get one email if all is well, but a separate email for each endpoint that may have a failure.

4. Ability to edit backup configuration and schedules.

5. Ability to initiate file restores from the console.

6. Requests tab if there is a way for end users to request file restores.

7. Ability to remove the endpoint software from a computer. (Big wish)

I'd imagine a tab in the endpoint client itself to register it with the admin server with credentials defined in the web console.

Permission to jump on this thread?

First, love all of Neil's ideas up top.

Second, and few additions:
1) Grouping: Be able to group certain endpoints together, and those groups are assigned a particular backup configuration/schedule

2) How B&R is aware of vSphere and Hyper-V organization, the Endpoint Manager (I called it first!) could recognize Active Directory groups to assist with #1. (So you could use AD groups, Veeam groups, or a combination.)

3) Tying this into the Enterprise Manager (and/or Veeam ONE?) interface in some fashion, so to create a single pane of glass for all your Veeam needs.

Adam, Neil,

(Yes Adam, permission granted to jump on this thread :-))

Thanks to both of you for taking the time to list those. I am certainly going to review those later on. As already stated, not in v1 but after that, with Veeam, everything is possible ;-)

If you have additional ideas, feel free to throw them in the thread. They are always appreciated

Cheers

[MERGED] Feature Request - Central Management Console

Post by srau »

I understand the segmentation between the Endpoint Backup and B&R products, but It would at least be nice to have (if nothing more) a separate console to manage the endpoint backups, even if the console was not free. I can see an easy cost justification for small to medium size businesses to have this type of control over workstation backups.

Thanks Sam,

As you can see we merged your thread into an existing one and we certainly take all of your feedback with us. Not in v1 for sure. Please share the tasks / information / other that you would like to see in such a console for the small / medium size business

Another feature thought to the web console would be integration to the B&R Enterprise search service (or a similar version for the Endpoints). If that could be tied in with the endpoint protection to search servers regardless if they are VMs or physical, that would be awesome. :)

Do you want to have a search option in order to do FLR operations or just to make sure you have a valid backup for a particular endpoint?

Both honestly, but primarily for FLR restores. In the Enterprise Manager search it is much quicker and easier to find that one specific file than picking (sometimes guessing) the correct backup date and then drilling down through the explorer to find the file.
