What is \\?\Volume....

Post by netmation »

Can someone explain what the \\?\Volume object is when I configure Veeam Endpoint? I assume to be able to do a full bare metal restore of my C drive, I should backup the 3 objects selected, along with saving a Recovery Media. See picture.

I have also included a picture of my partitions. Is that \\?\Volume the EFI System partition? Should I even be backing it up to be able to do a full bare metal restore if necessary.

Thanks.

Hi,

Most likely it’s your system EFI partition and VAW automatically included system and recovery partitions whenever you check operating system volume. System partitions is required to boot your OS, so if you plan to perform a Bare Metal Recovery is strongly recommended to keep this checkbox checked.
