Will entire computer restore work correctly with encryption
Hi if a computer is GPT and has full drive encryption, if it has to be restored using full computer backup, will the data remain encrypted? The full drive encryption requires a password to be entered at boot to decrypt. Will it work ok with full encryption? Thanks!

Hi Braxton,
If you're using bare-metal recovery, then it should work (Dima, please correct me if I'm wrong). BTW, what tool are you using to do the encryption?
Thanks!

Re: Will entire computer restore work correctly with encrypt
Hi Braxton,
Yes, you can backup TrueCrypt’s container, just keep in mind that it’s not going to be displayed as volume. Since crypto container is mounted by TrueCrypt software on its own, VEB is unable to identify it as a regular volume during backup and recovery, so it will be included in the backup as a regular file that is stored on a source disk.
After BMR is performed you can boot TrueCrypt and mount crypto container as a regular volume to the restored OS.

Thank you! This will work with TrueCrypt Volume Encryption right? Container Encryption is a seperate product with Jerico. If C:\ drive is encrypted?

It will work only if a local volume is unlocked by the time backup job kicks in. Otherwise, VEB can’t create a volume snapshot and backup job most likely fail. Keep in mind that inside the backup file such volume will be stored in decrypted state.
