Win2016 Bare metal restore on San Lun support ?
Bonjour,
VBR et Agent Version (last level V10 4854)
We want to know if bare metal restore of windows server 2016 (full boot on san /Dell Compellent [no local drive] ) is supported with veeam recovery media.
[Current lunX array X and Target lunY array Y are correctly mapped on the physical server (diskpart show both online)]
After sucessfully booting with the veeam rescue usb, i can choose my recovery point, but the autodiscover don't detect my lun.
We have some windows servers (full san) and we would like to use veeam to move the system to another array without reinstalling.
Cordialement

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
Your setup is supported. As you say that you can see the backup files, the network must be working. As you say Compellent... that sounds like iSCSI? Is it possible, that the IP addresses changed or authentication to the array is missing? Veeam support should also be able to help.
Best regards,
Hannes

Bonjour,
Merci pour le retour.
Our SAN protocol is full FC (no iscsi).
I will open a case and supply log to Veeam support.
Answer will be published on this thread
Bon weekend

ah, then probably the storage controller driver is missing for whatever reason. I remembered Compellent as iSCSI only... but it seems that has changed over time

Bonjour,
OPEN/CLOSE SR: 04326429
A new registry key must be created on the media recovery to allow selection of FC disks, then restore is available and well.

thanks for sharing the case number. I cannot remember that I had to do that when I restored a cluster disk some years ago at the initial release with cluster support.

Hi inistcnrs,
Do you mind sharing what registry key needs to be created to resolve this issue?
Thank you.

Hello,
is the key. If you are not aware how to use it, I recommend contacting Veeam support (well, and there is also a Cisco document that has some more description)
Best regards,
Hannes

Perfect, thank you. I was able to perform a BMR restore on a Cisco B200 server after adding this reg key.
