Windows 10 May / 1903 Support
Hello, Windows 10 1903 has been published to MSDN for developers: https://www.zdnet.com/article/microsoft ... e-on-msdn/
Can you please take a look and start working on support for Veeam Agent for Windows?
The Veeam update for full compatibility with the Windows October Update took so long (months!), and this is a great chance for you to get ahead for a more timely update.

Strong agreement with this. As a matter of act, I pointed it out on Reddit recently. Veeam is a SaaS product that runs on a SaaS OS but somehow has a traditional "gold release" update cadence, which is nonsensical. Windows Insider Builds are available well ahead of release, which means Veeam should be able to deliver updates at the same time Windows builds hit the release ring.

Re: Windows 10 May / 1903 Support
Thanks! Just a reminder that the support itself is not the issue here; rather the timing of its arrival is. Since Insider builds are publicly available, Veeam should support Windows builds before they hit release, not month(s) after.

Re: Windows 10 May / 1903 Support
We monitor and test all insiders builds, but, unfortunately these are not actual release builds. We cannot completely rely on the quality of the insiders builds as products must be tested against actual GA versions as we want to provide customers with stable solution.

Any ETA on a release date yet for this "minor update"? 1903 has been out for several days now.
Days? Weeks?

Seems like we should be all set now, see:
Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows 3.0
User Guide
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/agent ... tml?ver=30
I wrote a brief article up about Veeam Agent for Windows 3.0.1 and Windows 10 1903 testing in my new post here:
Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows now supports Microsoft Windows 10 May 2019 Update, version 1903
https://TinkerTry.com/veeam-agent-3-wor ... rsion-1903
for those interested in screenshots and more details. Seems to work just fine, but haven't fully tested bare metal restores of Windows 10 version 1903 quite yet, 2TB restores take a while .

but it is a little odd that at the bottom right, that article says "Updated on 5/6/2019"Microsoft Windows 10 (including version 1903)

Ah, I jumped the gun, see Anton Gostev's clarification here:

Thanks Paul. We need to correct our online help because Windows 10 May 2019 Update version 1903 is not actually fully supported yet. It will only be supported by version 3.0.2 to be released next month. Looks like Help Center is the only existing place with this mistake as all other linked documents are correct.

I've also updated my article accordingly (corrected within a few short hours of publication). Thank you Dima, and thank you Veeam!

June is almost over - what's holding up the release? Did 1903 really break a lot of things?

As per the forum digest note from 16 June, this is coming in the agent that's a part of Update 4b which is currently in Release Candidate stage.

July is coming...
What's holding up the release?
I want to recover my system
But can't do it now.

Re: Windows 10 May / 1903 Support
Sorry to hear that. To avoid such situations in future, please don't upgrade Windows OS to the newest release until it is supported by Veeam. Our commitment is to support new platform release within 90 days of their general availability.

Re: Windows 10 May / 1903 Support
we users live in such a rapid changing world that now we want the latest the day it becomes available. this is not 1990's.
but we users are willing to help you test the insiders/RC builds. all you have to do is publish your internal testing builds and label it as no-support, no answer on forums, no nothing, user is on his own, if data is lost, then is lost.Dima P. wrote: ↑May 12, 2019 11:15 am We monitor and test all insiders builds, but, unfortunately these are not actual release builds. Re: Windows 10 May / 1903 Support
Unfortunately, this is not how Veeam operates - and in fact is exactly an opposite approach to the one that made Veeam a leader in the data protection market. For us, quality and reliability have always been paramount. Which in turn automatically excludes any possibility of Day 1 support for new platform releases, or putting our customers' data at risk through access to pre-release builds.
You may call it a "1990s" approach, but the reality is that this is what our core customers like about us, and why they stay with Veeam. So I don't think it's fair for you to keep saying "we users", as different users have different requirements and preferences. Which also means that we'll never be able to make everyone happy. So, best we can do is keep our core customers happy, by continuing to do what we believe is right for them.
Luckily, Veeam is by far not the only backup vendor on the market - and there are plenty of other vendors, some of which will claim Day 1 support for new OS versions without testing the GA build, have "user is on his own, if data is lost, then its lost" attitude to their customers' data, etc. So, if you prefer their approach, then you should simply look at using them instead of Veeam.
