windows 10 restore

Post by Iang23 »

hi there

This Might be a dumb question, but I'm going to ask anyway..

I'm looking at doing an upgrade of my Gaming pc... New CPU, Ram, and motherboard.

If I've backed up my entire previous windows install of my old setup, can I restore it to the new setup without issues, or would I have to re install all my apps etc?

thanks

Unless you are upgrading the operating system, you probably won't need a backup. Looking at the list your are upgrading, you will probably just need to re-activate Windows. The backup will protect you against an OS failure following the upgrade, but if the new hardware breaks Windows, then that is likely going to be the same when you restore, unless you roll-back the hardware changes.

Hi folks,

Recovery to another hardware works without any issues and is fully supported. Thanks!
