Windows dual boot and CBT?
I have a Windows 10, Windows 11 dual boot system, each Windows version has it's own disk.
I want to backup both systems with VAW, each with his own agent.
The question is, will this confuse CBT or will it work?

Re: Windows dual boot and CBT?
Hi ROSA
We never have tested such scenario.
With the default CBT mechanism, we use master the file table to track changed blocks for NTFS disks. It may work, because both operating systems will use their own volumes with their own filesystem. Same for our own CBT driver. The driver is installed on each operating system independently.
May I ask, will you access/mount the filesystem cross both operating systems? Does the windows 10 operating system mount the disk of the windows 11 environment or other way around? In that case I assume there will be issues.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Windows dual boot and CBT?
Yes, they will access files cross operating systems, they have both mapped the second disk as D:

Re: Windows dual boot and CBT?
Why not just doing a backup of the machine and then an in-place OS upgrade?
Migrating data will take much longer.
Best,
Fabian

I want the new Windows 11 installation clean - I will not migrate all the stuff from Windows 10.

Still not done
If I do always active full backups - will they be OK in this scenario?
